Extension services

The Department of Extension Services is run by the Nirmala Institute of Education on behalf of the Government of Goa. Since its inception in the year 1972, the Department has been a forerunner providing academic leadership and building professionalism in school education. Through its long journey of commitment to better education, it has provided in-service education to a large number of secondary school teachers besides also catering to the needs of teachers at the +2 stage.

As a full-fledged department, it has an Advisory Board, which meets once a year at the beginning of the academic year. Various suggestions made at the meeting are considered for providing in-service inputs.

The Department conducts most of the in-service programmes using the grants provided by the Government and some workshops by collaborating with the super school complexes and the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

A variety of workshops, seminars are conducted by the Department of Extension Services. Workshops on life skills and mental health, assignments, computer assisted learning, multiple intelligences, remedial teaching, career guidance, critical thinking, classroom discipline and classroom management, portfolio assessment, environmental education etc. besides conducting content, methodology and evaluation workshops in different school subjects. Publications and research studies too are conducted by the Department of Extension Services.
