STREET PLAY PERFORMANCE AT RAVINDRA BHAVAN, MARGAO
Office of the Chief Electoral Officer Goa in association with District Election officer, South Goa celebrated 14th National voters Day on 25th January 2024 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. Chief Guest for the Programme was Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, Hon’ble Governer of Goa along with many other eminent dignitaries such as hon’ble chief secretary Shri Puneet Kumar Goel, as a Guest of honour, special invitee Shri. W.V. Ramanamurthy ,Hon’ble State Election Commissioner of Goa. The programme commenced at 11.00 am with Goan traditional Divli Dance, welcome dance performance by a group of dancers based in Goa. This was followed by Special street play Performance by S.Y.B.Ed Students from Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho, Panaji on the topic “Urban Apathy amongst youth towards election” under the guidance of Miss. Gautami Khandeparkar. Street plays are a powerful medium to impact the public by creating awareness about elections and voters right. People watched the street play with rapt attention. Students received a good response and active participation from the audience. Total 10 students were part of this street play. Goan Cultural glimpse was presented through traditional folk dance, Morulo.
Further to which, escorting the dignitaries to the Dias followed by lighting of traditional lamp. Chief Guest and other dignitaries were given a floral welcome by the Chief Electoral Officer. New voting Candidates were handed over with EPIC (Cards) at the hands of Hon’ble Governer of Goa. E-Magazine and wall Clock Launched on NVD theme. Felicitations of best electoral officers & Special recognizing awards were presented to the candidates at the hands of Hon’ble Governer of Goa for their outstanding performance in election administration. Programme continued with administering voters Pledge and chief guest addressing the esteemed gathering emphasizing on voting rights. Lastly, programme concluded with Vote of thanks and National Anthem at 1.00pm. It was truly an amazing experience for students.
