As part of the curriculum and under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell -IQAC; the Faculty of Art & Aesthetics -Visual Arts Mr. Raymond Pereira conducted a session on ‘Graffiti Art’ for the S.Y. B.Ed. Trainees batch 2022-24. The objective of the session was to inculcate in each of the young teacher aspirants the finer nuances of art. The session involved the participation of the group working and experiencing Graffiti Art in unison.

Graffiti is an art-form that is written, painted or drawn on a wall or other surface, usually without permission and within public view. Graffiti ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire.

During the session the young aspirants were given a blank sheet of paper, wherein each group expressed their thoughts through drawing, design and colour etc. The theme for the Graffiti was ‘An ode to Education’.The final artwork was done collating all the sheets together to form a large design. The various mediums used were charcoal, crayons, chalk, colour pens, etc.

The session helped understand that:

- Graffiti is a form of visual communication.

-The end purpose of Graffiti, like other art, is to tell a story or express oneself.

-Graffiti allows one to express themselves, even if it is not in a publicly acceptable manner.
