Nirmala Institute of Education celebrated Goa Day with great enthusiasm on March 6, 2026 at its college campus, showcasing the vibrant traditions, culture, and heritage of the state through a variety of performances, décor, and traditional cuisine.
The Principal - Dr. Russell D'Souza, the Chief Guest Sr. Martine Mary (Superior General- DHM) and the Director of Nirmala Institute of Education Dr. Rita Paes addressed the gathering. They appreciated the culture and beauty of Goa and all the efforts of the students and organisers in celebrating and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Goa.
The programme featured several colourful cultural performances that reflected the rich artistic traditions of Goa. Students presented lively dances such as Kunbi Dance and Kalshi Fugdi, along with a melodious Goan Konkani Medley. A special presentation titled “Walk Through Goa” highlighted the beauty and diversity of the state, while Traditional Occupations depicted the livelihoods of Goan communities. The audience also enjoyed a vibrant Folklore Fusion, a humorous Tiatr and the graceful and soulful Mando, all of which brought out the authentic rhythms and spirit of Goa. In the midst of the programme, heads of various internship – coordinating schools associated with the institute were felicitated in recognition of their support and cooperation in providing valuable teaching practice opportunities to the teacher trainees.
The venue was also beautifully decorated with Goan-themed décor, including traditional elements that reflected the state’s cultural identity. The decorations added colour and vibrancy to the atmosphere and created an immersive Goan cultural setting for the celebration.
Adding to the festive experience, a variety of authentic Goan food items were made available, allowing attendees to savour the flavours of traditional cuisine. The food section highlighted local dishes and celebrated Goa’s rich culinary heritage.
