A 2 day National Conference entitled ‘Digital Technologies are the Future’ was organised by Nirmala Institute of Education
D.El.Ed. National Sports Day 2022
The D.El.Ed. Department of the Nirmala Institute of Education celebrated the National Sports day on the 28th of September 2022.The event was held to commemorate the birth anniversary of the hockey legend Major Dhyan Singh.
The programme was divided into two phases. During the first phase of the celebration, a lecture was delivered by Mr. Clifton Moses Fernandes, the Director of Physical Education and Sports of Nirmala Institute of Education on the topic “Healthy Lifestyle- make yourself a priority”. The students were enlightened about various health issues and the remedies to overcome them that were by incorporating a proper balance of eating habits, quality sleep and some physical activity for short span of time.
Followed by this, there was a workshop held on the different techniques of self-defence conducted by Ms. Bharati Indrajeet Prasad-an international karate black belt. The session commenced with a warm-up session followed by training of solar and face punch and defensive holds. The students were made to perform the techniques in pair and were given guidance on how one should be protecting themselves in different situations. The programme concluded with presentation of memento to Ms. Bharathi followed by words of gratitude given by the college Principal Dr. Delia Antao. With this the first phase came to an end.
In the second phase there was an inter house human pyramid intramural that was held in the yoga room which was organised by team Sania Mirza . The competition was graced with the presence of Mr. Princeton Rebello ISL player, Midfielder from team FC Goa. Mrs Synora Picardo and Sr. Neesha Nazareth along with Mr. Princeton were the judges for the same.
The students displayed wonderful pyramids. Team Sania Nehwal, P.V Sindhu and Mithali Raj won 1st,2nd and 3rd place respectively. Mr. Princeton spoke words of encouragement to the students and the programme concluded with the valedictory function and a formal vote of thanks given by the organizing house captain and vice- captain.
