A 2 day National Conference entitled ‘Digital Technologies are the Future’ was organised by Nirmala Institute of Education
Embracing the Legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
To commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri the students of S.Y.D.El.Ed. prepared an excellent program that was meticulously designed to elucidate the enduring principles of these two iconic historical figures. The primary theme of the program reverberated with the message: "The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace." This profound theme, encapsulated the notion that love transcends the charm of power and control. It conveyed the idea that when individuals prioritize love and compassion towards others over personal interests and the pursuit of power, global harmony and serenity can be realized.
To mark this significant occasion, the students presented an array of captivating performances, including a soul-stirring musical performance, exuberant dances, emotional mime, thought-provoking skits, and an insightful puppet show. The officiating Principal, Dr. Sr. Delia Antao, graced the occasion and gave a special address, emphasizing the importance of learning from the mistakes of the past delving into the annals of history and using that knowledge to improve the present, she also focused on some of the qualities of the Mahatma Gandhi for us to emulate.
The celebration also featured the exhibition of history assignments, meticulously crafted by the students of S.Y. D.El.E.d. presented through a series of compelling videos and a gallery showcasing the history-related models.
Furthermore, a millet cooking competition (without fire) was incorporated within the programme to also celebrate the 'International Year of Millets,' with the overarching goal of fostering awareness of our ‘health in our hands’ and for promoting an increased production and consumption of millets. The students exhibited remarkable creativity and ingenuity in the preparation of dishes, including delicious ragi ladoos, refreshing ragi milkshakes, and nutritious millet salads.
The program reached its culmination with a presentation featuring some profound Gandhian quotes and messages, artfully curated by the class representative, Miss Annissa Barreto, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Miss Jewel D'Souza. This remarkable program was executed under the guidance of the History Methodology lecturer, Mrs. Debbie Fernandes.
