The session on Humane Education was organised in the context of the recent directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India concerning the management of the stray dog menace and public awareness. Taking note of the increasing incidence of dog bite cases, particularly in and around educational institutions and other public spaces, the Hon’ble Court has emphasised the need for scientific awareness, responsible community participation, rabies prevention, vaccination and humane management of stray dogs in accordance with the law.
Understanding Mental Health: Awareness, Coping and Referral Systems
Nirmala Institute of Education, under the aegis of the IQAC, organised a Mental Health Sensitisation Programme titled "Understanding Mental Health: Awareness, Coping and Referral" for the teaching, non-teaching and support staff. The session was conducted by Dr. Vithoba Narayan Mhalkar, Associate Professor, Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), Goa, and Certified Emotional Intelligence Coach.
The programme focused on promoting mental health awareness, emotional well-being, healthy coping strategies and appropriate referral pathways. Through engaging discussion and reflection, participants gained practical insights into promoting emotional wellbeing and maintaining a mentally healthy institutional environment.
