Nirmala Institute of Education re-launched its Atmashodha Counselling Centre in a new avatar on September 18, 2024. Ms. Marlene Pereira, coordinator for the Centre, welcomed the audience and explained that the re-launch aims to adapt to current needs and provide a platform for alumni of NIE’s Postgraduate diploma and MA in Wellness Counselling programs.
The event began with a short prayer to invoke blessings for this new chapter. Dr. Rita Paes, Director of NIE, unveiled the new logo along with the tagline, ‘Compassionate Care for Mind and Soul’, which encapsulates the Centre's vision. In her address, she reminisced about its founding purpose and acknowledged the hard work of its pioneers. She re-emphasized NIE’s mission to serve society and urged all panellists to continue in the same spirit.
Dr. Delia Antao, Officiating Principal at NIE, introduced two new posters and highlighted the importance and urgency of counselling in today’s world and the need to be very human while delivering these services. She also expressed gratitude to all those involved in this effort. Ms. Gayatri Konkar, a senior counsellor at Atmashodha, showcased the new website and provided a brief walkthrough.
Atmashodha Counselling Centre’s services will now be offered in online mode in addition to in-person counselling. Its range of services has been expanded to include couple/marriage counselling and group workshops in addition to personal and career counselling.
The event concluded with a delightful tea and cake session, celebrating this exciting milestone in the Centre's journey.
