The Department of Physical Education and Sports, Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho-Panaji, under the aegis of IQAC, organized the 12th International Day of Yoga
on 21st June, Sunday, 2026 from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. in the B.Ed. Hall. The programme was conducted in accordance with the theme “Yoga for Healthy
Ageing: Transforming Daily Habit into a Culture of Wellness.” Students and staff enthusiastically participated in the celebration.
Tree Plantation Drive at Nirmala Institute of Education in Collaboration with Vajra Youth Club
Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho, in collaboration with Vajra Youth Club, organized a Tree Plantation Drive on June 1st 2025 to mark Van Mahotsav and promote environmental conservation.
The event was graced by Ms. Maria Fernandes, Sarpanch of Taleigao, as Chief Guest; Mr. Sagar Kunkolkar, President of Vajra Youth Club, as Guest of Honour; Sr. Olga Vaz, Vice President of Nirmala Education Society; and Dr. Russel D’Souza, Principal of the Institute, Panchayat members, club representatives, B.Ed., Dl.Ed. and Pre-School Teacher Trainees.
The program included an awareness session on Environment Management by resource person Mr. Venkatesh Bettigeri, who spoke on deforestation, afforestation, waste segregation, and the importance of clean surroundings. Inspiring messages such as “Protect Nature so that Nature can Protect Us” and “When we plant a Tree, we plant Hope!” were highlighted.
The event concluded with a symbolic tree plantation on the campus, reinforcing the message that every small action contributes to a greener future.
