International Conference Held at Nirmala Institute of Education
Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin (AIRIO) in collaboration with GVM's Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education and Nirmala Institute of Education organized a two-day International Conference titled ‘Emerging trends in Teaching and Research’ on 15 and 16 September 2023 at Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho - Panaji.
The inaugural session was presided by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas President, AIRIO Global. The Chief Guest for the function was Dr. Renji George Amballoor, Deputy Director (Academic) DHE, Govt. of Goa. Other eminent personalities included Dr. Jojen Mathew (President AIRIO, Goa Chapter and Principal GVM's Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education); Dr. Delia Antao (Vice-President AIRIO , Goa Chapter and Officiating Principal, Nirmala Institute of Education); Sr. Olga Vaz (Manager, Nirmala Educational Society) and Mr. Clifton Fernandes (Organising Secretary and Assistant Professor, Nirmala Institute of Education).
Dr. Renji George Amballoor emphasized the relevance of the theme and conveyed his hope that the discussions would provide feasible solutions to the challenges faced in the educational scenario. The annual newsletter of AIRIO was released at the hands of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas. Recipients of several awards instituted by AIRIO were felicitated. Prof. (Dr.) V. Reghu, Former Dean and Controller of Examination, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India and National President of AIRIO, delivered the keynote address. He highlighted the pivotal role of research and pushed for prioritizing research and infrastructural development.
Technical sessions on ‘Transforming Research Ecosystem in Higher Education – a Perspective from NEP 2020’and ‘Ethical Practices in Research’ were conducted by notable educationists Dr. Amarendra Pani, Joint Director, Director (I/C), Research Division, Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi and Prof. (Dr) K. Rajeshwari, Professor and Head Centre for Research and Development, NVKSD College of Education Attoor TN respectively. Panel discussions were held on the topics ‘Innovations through NEP 2020’ and ‘Women in Indian Education’. Over 18 papers were presented on a diverse range of topics. The presenters were appreciated for their valuable findings.
During the valedictory function, Dr. Rita Paes, Director, Nirmala Institute of Education, called upon the academia to introspect whether the impact of education has been positive or negative. She stated that our world needs teachers who will transform it into another paradise, and made an appeal to add one’s special brand of wisdom and goodness in the field of education. The international conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Teaching and Research’ was an enlightening experience for all those who made it a success.
