Life skills committee and Wellness Club Don Bosco College, Panaji in association with Rotary club of Panaji Riviera organised an Intercollegiate Skit Competition on the theme “MENTAL WELLNESS AMONG THE YOUTH” on the 16th October 2024 at Don Bosco College ,Panaji. F.Y.B.Ed. Teacher trainees participated and secured 2nd Place in the same. The teacher trainees were trained by Ms. Gautami Khandeparkar, Assistant Professor in Performing Arts from NIE.
Through a lively brainstorming session, the team explored potential storylines, characters, and messages that could resonate with the audience and effectively address the theme. Over the next few days, a dedicated writing team within the group began drafting a script titled ‘ROSHNI, Keep the Light Shining’. The script was designed to be both informative and entertaining, using lively characters to convey important messages. Once a basic script was in place, the team delved into character development. Constructive criticism was invaluable in identifying areas for improvement and refining the performance. Goan folk instruments and western instruments like ukulele along with handmade Akashdeep were effectively incorporated within the script. This gave the script its own uniqueness. Additionally, stage blocking was carefully choreographed to ensure smooth transitions and maximise the use of the performance space.
With confidence and enthusiasm, they delivered their skit, leaving a lasting impression on the audience and judges, securing a Second place for the college. Preparation for the skit competition was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Through teamwork, dedication, and creativity, the team successfully developed a powerful and impactful performance. The experience not only showcased their talents but also fostered valuable skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and public speaking.
